I can't do it, Zuko. I thought I was strong, I thought I was brave, I thought I was a war hero. But I'm no one, I'm not a Fire Lady.

I can stand the stares from the women of the court, and the disdain from the men. I can stand the backstabbing, the lies and deceit, and the two-facedness in the court. I can even stand Aang's look of betrayal everytime he sees me. I can stand not going back to the Southern Water Tribe. I could stand being disowned by them, I know I could.

Zutara Week 09 Crossover Day 1Currently, Katara was sitting across from Zuko with her bowl of food, but was neglecting her food in favor of giving him death glares. Not that there was much food, even though Zuko had done his best in the nearby forest. She ignored the conversation going on around her, instead focusing hard on Zuko picking at his food.

"What's the matter, Zuko? Too peasant-like for you? I'll take your portion." Her viciousness silences the others, and Zuko attempts a smile back, but falters at her icy gaze.

"It's great," he lies.

Katara huffs. "Well, if you'd not tired out Aang firebending, maybe he could have helped you hunt."

Zutara Week 09 Blood Day 2Katara had assumed the battle had ended well. She was amazed by the fact that they had managed to end it so peacefully, with the only real loss being Azula, and she was not dead. From Zuko's coronation until the tea party they had after it, she thanked the spirits every moment. Someone had been watching over them - it seemed that none of the people she loved had been hurt. She did not know of any casualties among her friends, and due to the fact that the six of them had managed to bring down most of the Fire Nation's offensive, and Zuko had ordered the army to stop attacking the moment he was crowned, there was little opportunity for the otheZutara Week 09 Blood Day 2 by ~wondering-wandering

Zutara Week 09 Jealousy Day 3"I can't believe you would say that."

"I said I was sorry, Katara." A hint of impatience slips through his words, and he prays that she won't notice it, for it'll mean at least two hours more of apologies. He tries not to think of the work henpecked, but it forces itself into his mind anyway, causing him to say something he's not sure he won't regret. "It's not like it's my fault anyway."

Katara goes on the defensive. "I'm not talking about the remarks made by them, but about the...thing you said after that." She sniffs dramatically, uncomfortably aware that she is overreacting. ZutaraWeek09 Cactus Juice Day4"Fire! Fire Nation!" yelled Sokka, pointing at two different objects and looking put out when no one reacted in the manner he expected them to.

"Yes, Sokka, we know," Katara said with the biting tone in her voice that is present so often these days. "The fire is to keep us warm, and the Fire Nation is to betray us." Yet again, is the unspoken thought.

There is a chorus of protest from Aang and Toph, who seem to be agreeing about a lot of things these days. Or maybe it's Katara's imagination, making her believe that everyone is ganging up on her.

It takes a slurred voice of reason to restrain Katara temporarily. "Shuuussh Katarrrr," Suki muZutaraWeek09 Cactus Juice Day4 by ~wondering-wandering

Zutara Week 09 Fireflies Day 5Katara can't explain it, but even when she's in the Earth Kingdom thousands of miles away, she's thinking of Zuko. She's out in Toph's new house's garden, alone in the dark. But the sight of a tiny little ball of light crossing the garden - a firefly, she remembers him telling her - brings him to mind.

"Please, Katara," his voice cracks in the middle. "I'll make it work."

She disassociates herself from the memories, and thinks about life in the Earth Kingdom. She wouldn't call it boring, but it's not exactly interesting. Toph is off all day training young Earthbenders who can't afford masters, and she's been amusing herself by reading the Zutara Week 09 Fireflies Day 5 by ~wondering-wandering

Zutara Week 09 Rhythm Day 6Toph measures life by people's heartbeats. Snoozles' normally is a little faster than the others, but, strangely enough, slows down in moments of crises. Suki's is reliable - always 72 beats every minute, Toph could set a clock by it. But when Sokka and Suki are together, both their heart rates speed up to unusual levels, making it easy for her to detect when one of them enters a room in which the other is already present.

Twinkletoes' used to be quicker than the others, always excited, but it's slowed down recently. His new heart rate is a strange, slowish calming rhythm that is much steadier than before. Somehow, every time Toph hears it, Zutara Week 09 Rhythm Day 6 by ~wondering-wandering

Zutara Week 09 Lick Day 7It's big and round and shiny. It's also rainbow colored, which makes it irresistible to her eight year old self. And it's also in the hands of her stinky (because all boys smell, Suki and Azula have told her) neighbor. She knows he's showing off, dangling it in front of her nose, but she can't help it. Her mouth is watering for that lollipop.

But it's Zuko's, and she's hated him ever since he played that mean trick with Sokka when they put papayas in my food, I haven't forgiven him. I have to forgive Sokka, he's my brother (and Mom made me after two weeks), but Zuko doesn't deserve it. So what if he'd apologized?

The orange afternoon sun reflected in the calm pond before him. Zuko had been pacing back and forth in front of the huge oak tree casting a dark and cold shadow over the pond area in the garden.

It had been almost a year since he and Mai got back together again and they were getting pretty serious. She had even sort of moved in with him at the palace, only a few days now and then she would return to her actual home, but it wouldn't be long before she came back and then she just stayed for a fewFragile Heart - chp. 1 by *aquadore

The mist surrounded her like a thick and suffocating blanket. Unable to see anything, she wandered around in the heavy mist hoping to find anything to hold on to.

She was all alone and the echoing of her voice gave her the chill across her spine. "Hello?" Only thing responding was the sound of her own voice being hit around in the mist.

Fragile Heart chp. 3Chapter 3 – A crossing of paths

He was standing at the deck of the ship, staring into the flaming sunset in the distant horizon. The wind played in his loose hair and the bangs covered his scarred eye.

There were just something inside him that made him feel uneasy and uncertain. Ever since he left The Jasmine Dragon back in Ba Sing Se. He couldn't quite explain it but it was something. Some sort of conflicted feeling. It just didn't seem right.

He went inside under the deck and into his chamber. "Fire Lord, we're closing in on Ember Island and we'll be there in just a couple of hours. You should get your things." "Thank you." "And FirFragile Heart chp. 3 by *aquadore

Of Fire and Water Ch.1: KataraKatara, a fourteen year old girl from the Southern Water Tribe, stood in the cold rain in Ba Sing Se, looking up absentmindedly at the clouded sky, her elegant fingers clutching her mothers' necklace subconsciously. It had been a full month after Zuko betrayed his beloved uncle and everyone else after succumbing to Azulas' words. Katara winced at the memory of being trapped inside the cave with Zuko, and how she believed he had truly changed like he said he had. Kataras' shoulders slumped, while they were trapped, Zuko and she had shared painful memories of their mothers and the Fire Nation, she felt she had formed a type of bond with Zuko thOf Fire and Water Ch.1: Katara by ~kyokyo08

Of Fire and Water Ch.2: ZukoZuko sat upon his new throne in the now Fire Nation ruled Ba Sing Se. Azula had posted him there while she and half of her troops returned to the Fire Nation Capital to report that Ba Sing Se had finally been overthrown. She ordered Zuko to stay and watch over what happened while she was away, incase any attacks were attempted by the rebelling citizens. Zuko rolled his eyes upon thinking about his sisters order; it had only been a month since the citizens lost the battle, there was no way they would have recovered quickly enough to attempt to regain control of their beloved city.

Zuko sighed in boredom and stood from his throne. He walked ouOf Fire and Water Ch.2: Zuko by ~kyokyo08

Of Fire and Water Ch.3: IrohIroh and Katara walked down the drizzling streets. The rain was slowly beginning to let up, though it would probably rain for a few more hours before stopping completely.

Iroh looked at Miss Katara through the corner of his eye. Miss Katara certainly was beautiful. Iroh sighed to himself; his nephew always let the pretty ones go. "A shame that.." Iroh muttered.

"Hm? Is something wrong Iroh?" Katara asked.

"Ah, nothing. Just an old man longing for some warm tea." Iroh smiled, rubbing his large belly.

Katara laughed. "I figured you would. I'll make some as soon as we get back."

Of Fire and Water Ch.5: TophToph could feel Katara and Iroh's vibrations even before they had walked in. Toph had already started making tea for Iroh, she knew he would be wanting some as soon as he came back. She swatted Momo away in slight annoyance; she'd been insisting on riding on Toph's shoulder for the past half-hour.

"Hey twinkle toes, you awake?" Toph called to Aang, who was resting in the other room. The response she got was a few groans. "Good. Where's the jasmine?"

"...the jar on your right..." she heard Aang mumble as he slowly drifted back to sleep. Toph reached to her right and opened the clay jar where the strong smell of jasmine filled her nostrils. TOf Fire and Water Ch.5: Toph by ~kyokyo08

Of Fire and Water Ch.4: JinJin lingered near an alley next to the teashop where she had first met Lee. She hadn't seen him since their date, what in the world could have happened to him?

Jin sighed sadly and began walking home; perhaps she'd never see him again like she had feared.

Jin gasped and hid behind the corner of the building she was about to pass when she saw a drunk firebender get thrown into a rock wall. Jin covered her mouth to keep herself from screaming in fear. The firebender had a bloody nose and a split lip, and when he spat Jin noticed a missing tooth. Her eyes widened when she saw a cloaked figure approach. He removed his hood and Jins' jaw nearly Of Fire and Water Ch.4: Jin by ~kyokyo08

Of Fire and Water Ch.6: Ty LeeTy Lee, a happy carefree girl, ran about the palace, shouting for Zuko. Ty Lee mentally kicked herself; that was the third time that week she'd let him out of her sight, if Azula found out she hadn't been watching him like she said, Ty Lee knew Azula would have her head on a silver platter.

"Zuzu! ZUZU!!" Ty Lee shouted once more. She bolted into where his temporary room was to check for the fifth time and stopped to see her Zuzu deep in meditation. "ZUZU!!!" She squealed, flinging herself ontop of him in relief.

Zuko scowled and pushed her off. "What's your problem woman?!" Zuko shouted in annoyance. Ty Lee stuck her tongue out at him and Of Fire and Water Ch.6: Ty Lee by ~kyokyo08

Of Fire and Water Ch.7: SokkaSokka scratched his head in confusion. When had he ended up in the middle ring? Sokka stood on top of a bridge, peering down at the black tinted water, staring at his reflection in boredom.

"Just perfect. I can't believe I got lost again." Sokka sighed and leaned over the wooden railing. He closed his eyes and began thinking about Suki. Sokka had demanded that when they left they should visit her and the Kioshi warriors, sice Ba Sing Se clearly had nothing left for them; they'd found Appa after all. Katara had complained, naturally, saying that they should try to help liberate the once last safe place from the Fire Nation.

OFAW ch.8: NightfallThat evening Katara looked over her new outfit in disgust. It was a Fire Nation peasants outfit for that was the only thing available for her to buy at all the shops. She had made sure to put it on after everyone was asleep; she knew for certain Sokka would think her insane for adorning the enemies' attire. It's main color was a deep blood red, though the trimmings were gold, and a large black Fire Nation symbol was embroidered on her back.

Katara sighed and finished dressing. She'd have to find some other time to mend her other outfit. Right now she needed to see Zuko. Katara tied on her water pouch and left their shabby home in the lower rOFAW ch.8: Nightfall by ~kyokyo08

The four members of avatar group had been traveling through the forested mountains that surrounded the outside walls of Ba Sing Se. They had been in the city for some time and had decided that the mountains could give a higher view of the metropolis. Without being able to contact the Earth King finding Appa was their next priority. They had left Momo back at the house where he could love the lazy life. They were all very concerned for Appa and thought looking from the top of the nearby mountains might help.

The wind gently blew petals from the sakura tree and floated over the warm marble and stone, the sun kissed the night sky goodnight and a girl older then the days of war with her long brown hair over her shoulder sat starring out to the setting sun.

On the new dawn as the moon kissed the sun, or tomorrow, as many would say, was the day that her life would change forever. She sat in a silk covered chair for hours looking at a white wedding dress that was in the traditional style for Water Tribe, and next to it, a crown fit for a Queen.
